Draft Grade: D+
Washington having the fewest draft selections to work with is becoming an uncomfortable trend. With only one pick in the top 140, the 'Skins selected a superstar in Safety LaRon Landry. Landry has the speed of a Safety but the power of an OLB. While his talent is undeniable, Washington did have greater needs that could have been addressed with the sixth overall pick, specifically on the defensive line. Still, in terms of talent, Landry was the prospect most worthy of the #6 pick, and he'll look good matched up with another first round Safety, Sean Taylor. After that (much after that, in rounds five and six) the Redskins found help for the LB corps landing the active Dallas Sartz out of USC in round five, and H.B. Blades, son of former All-Pro Safety Bennie Blades, in round six. Also with a sixth round pick, Washington nabbed QB Jordan Palmer, younger brother of Cincinnati's Carson. Jordan has good skills but needs some time to develop. He could be a pleasant surprise in years to come.
