Draft Grade: B+
|
| For the most part, Atlanta was right on target
with their 2007 Draft. Losing Patrick Kearney to free agency
and concerned about the health/durability of John Abraham,
selecting DE Jamaal Anderson at #8 was the near obvious
choice. Anderson combines size with explosiveness and should
be a high-impact player for the Falcons. OG Justin Blalock
is a first round talent that Atlanta picked up early in
the second frame. Blalock is a beast who can play inside
or out, though he's projected at right guard, and already
capable of contending for the starting job. DBs Chris
Houston (speed) and David Irons (size) will make
two very strong additions to the secondary and allow the
Falcons to move '06 draftee Jimmy Williams back to his more
natural FS position. TE Martrez Milner was a solid
pick in round four. He owns better speed and natural athleticism
than Crumpler, but he's still slated to be a backup for
Alge. Versatile O lineman Doug Datish (who saw action
at OT, OG and Center at Ohio State) was an excellent value
round pick for the Falcons. Had Atlanta drafted a quality
DT to provide depth, possibly with their 75th pick overall,
they could have graded out with an A. |
