Draft Grade: C+
Denver had several needs entering the 2007 Draft, but obviously the one they were most concerned about was their lack of talented edge-rushers. In the first frame, DE Jarvis Moss was a great pick. Moss overcame medical issues at the college level to become a true superstar for the National Champion Florida Gators in 2006. Once he adds a little more bulk and muscle, he should be a terror in the NFL. Drafting another athletic edge-rusher with the very next pick showed Denver's lack of draft creativity. Tim Crowder will be a good one opposite Moss, but the Broncos still have other question marks on defense, especially at LB where they need to fill the void left by Al Wilson's release, and at the Safety positions, where they're aging. The run game could have been addressed on day one also. Veteran Travis Henry could have used a compliment. With their final day one pick, Denver found exceptional third round value in athletic OT Ryan Harris, who spent his Notre Dame career protecting the blindside of record-holder Brady Quinn. Harris is vastly underrated. With their fourth and final selection, Denver nabbed DT Marcus Thomas in round four. Thomas, a phenomenal but questionable prospect who was a star at Florida and once considered a first round talent, was eventually suspended by Florida for numerous failed drug tests. If Thomas can clean up his act, he has the talent to be a star in the NFL. Overall, Denver may have lacked creativity with their picks, but they did get talent for both lines and once these prospects develop and mature, they could all be difference-makers.
